LightenMD Is Not a Medical Provider
LightenMD operates a program that connects individuals with independent, US-licensed medical providers via telehealth. LightenMD does not practice medicine, does not dispense medication, and does not guarantee that any individual will be prescribed any medication or achieve any particular result. All clinical decisions are made solely by licensed providers based on their professional judgment.
No Outcome Guarantees
Weight-loss results vary by individual and depend on many factors, including adherence, health status, and lifestyle. LightenMD makes no guarantee of specific results.
Important Safety Information — GLP-1 Medications
Medications that may be prescribed through providers in the program, such as semaglutide and tirzepatide (GLP-1 / GIP receptor agonists), are clinically studied prescription medications for weight management in eligible patients. They are not appropriate for everyone. Important safety considerations include:
- Common side effects: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, decreased appetite, fatigue
- Serious risks (rare): pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, kidney injury, hypoglycemia (especially with other diabetes medications), and severe gastrointestinal events
- Thyroid warning: in rodent studies these medications caused thyroid C-cell tumors; they should not be used by people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2
- Pregnancy: these medications should not be used during pregnancy or while trying to become pregnant
- Tell your provider about all medical conditions and every medication or supplement you take
This is not a complete list of risks. Your provider will review safety information relevant to your situation, and the dispensing pharmacy provides full medication information with each prescription. Report side effects to your provider promptly. For severe reactions, call 911.
Emergencies
Do not use this site or the program for emergencies. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
