FAQ

Questions, answered.

Pricing & billing

How much does Weight Care cost?

$149/month for the membership ($119/month if you prepay 12 months), plus your medication at the manufacturer's self-pay price. Founding members pay $99/month for their first 6 months.

Why is medication paid separately?

Brand-name GLP-1s are sold at self-pay prices set by Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk through their own pharmacies. Paying them directly means you get their price, with no markup from us.

When am I charged?

Only after a licensed clinician approves treatment. If you're not approved, you pay $0.

Can I cancel?

Yes. Memberships are month to month. Cancel online any time before your next billing date and you won't be charged again. See our billing policy.

Do you take insurance?

Not at this time. LightenMD is cash-pay.

Eligibility & care

Who decides if I get a prescription?

An independent, licensed clinician. LightenMD never makes medical decisions, and a prescription is issued only if it's medically appropriate for you.

Will I need a video visit?

It depends on your state. Some states require a live video visit before certain prescriptions; we'll tell you during the questionnaire.

Which states do you serve?

We're launching in most U.S. states. Your state's availability is confirmed at the start of the questionnaire.

Do you offer compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide?

No. For GLP-1 care we prescribe brand-name medication and generic liraglutide only.

Medication & shipping

How does my medication arrive?

Brand-name GLP-1s ship from the manufacturer's self-pay pharmacy. Compounded add-ons ship from a licensed U.S. pharmacy in temperature-appropriate packaging.

What if I have side effects?

Message your care team any time from your account. Your clinician can adjust your dose or prescribe anti-nausea medication if needed. For emergencies, call 911.

Are compounded medications FDA-approved?

No. Compounded medications are prepared for individual patients by state-licensed pharmacies and are not FDA-approved or evaluated by the FDA for safety, effectiveness or quality.

Privacy

Is my information private?

Yes. Health information is handled under HIPAA by our clinical and pharmacy partners, and we never sell it. See our Privacy Policy.
